Chapter 1: Chris McCandless gets picked up as a hitchhiker by a guy named Jim Gallien. Chris tells Gallien that his name is Alex. Gallien trys to get Chris to come with him back to Anchorage to buy him better gear but he doesnt accept it. Instead Gallien gives Alex (Chris) a pair of old boots that were in his car because Alexs' werent insulated or waterproof. Gallien also gives him the lunch that his wife packed for him, and then drops him off to where he intended to go.
Chapter 2: Moosehunters go down the trail to where the bus is and they smell a bad smell coming from the bus. They found an S.O.S note and it was signed Chris McCandless. They looked in the bus and found his body.
Chapter 3: In this chapter they talk about Chris being good friends with Wayne Westerberg. Wayne Westerberg also picked up Chris as a hitchiker. Chris found a home in Westerberg. When he went back out on the road he still kept in touch with Wayne.
Chapter 4: In this chapter it talks more in deapth about him meeting Wayne in South Dakota. He also met people named Jan and Bob Burres. Chris stays at their house for a couple of weeks. He gets to know them a lot better and he lets them know that he appreciates them letting him stay there.
Chapter 5: Chris met a man named Charlie. Charlie told Chris to live in this trailer that he was not using instead of living on the streets with just a backpack. When he left he then went to live with Jan and Bob Burres where he stays at their house. While living in "The Slabs" there was a 17 year old girl who had a crush on him. He left "The Slabs" soon after.
